If you intend to be married in New York State you must both apply in person for a marriage license. A marriage license can be purchased from any Town or City Clerk's Office.
Fee: $40.00 (includes your marriage certificate)
Waiting Period: 24 hours from the time the license is issued.
Expires: 60 days, beginning the day after license is issued.
Required Documentation: Birth Certificate; picture identification; copies of ALL divorce decrees, or death certificate if marriage ended by death.

After the officiant performs the marriage and the license is returned to our office, you will receive one copy of the Marriage Certificate via mail. If the Marriage Certificate is lost or you need an extra copy, you may purchase an official Marriage Transcript.
